Robert Lenkiewicz: Paintings & Projects
A large-format (288 x 290 mm) hardback book containing 192 pages with over 120 illustrations. A new illustrated text surveys the artist's life and work, exploring the reasoning behind Lenkiewicz's method of painting in large-scale 'Projects' exhibited at his own studios. The Projects, 21 in all, investigated social phenomena such as Vagrancy, Mental Handicap, Old Age, Suicide and Death as well as Lenkiewicz's own ideas on the subject of human relationships in Projects such as Love & Romance, Jealousy, Orgasm and The Painter with Mary.
80 colour plates, many reproducing previously unseen paintings for the first time, offer a definitive survey of the artist's best work. The book also features the stunning studio portraits by acclaimed photographer Derek Harris, which show Robert Lenkiewicz's magnificent Barbican Studio and library between 1992-3 during the creation of Project 18 – The Painter with Women: Observations of the Theme of the Double.
A specially bound Collector's Edition of 350 copies with a distinctive binding and presentation slipcase is also available. The Collector's Edition includes an exclusive limited edition 11 x 10 ins print produced by photographer Derek Harris (left), which is not reproduced within the book.
